What in the Word are We doing on the Internet?


BibleBot v1.9b is an Internet Relay Chat bible robot ( a.k.a. Bible Bot or BibleBot ) written in C++ using TCL for Eggdrop botware provided by Believers' Ministries In Christ, Inc.   The examples outlined on this page invoke the script by using the command character tilde ( ~ ) and is modifiable to any special character such as ! & ? and so on...




BibleBot v1.9b standard format to display passages on IRC (max. 4 verses):

~Version  Book  Chapter  Verse  [EndVerse]

Other acceptable formats are:
~Version  BookChapter:Verse-EndVerse
~Version  Book  Chapter:Verse  [EndVerse]
~Version  BookChapter:Verse  BookChapter:Verse

Example commands for displaying a King James Reference:
1st Corinthians 13:4 - 6 = ~kjv 1cor 13 4 6  or  ~kjv 1cor13:4-6
2nd Kings 17:19 = ~kjv 2ki 17:19  or  ~kjv 2ki 17 19
~kjv amo3:7 john15:15 = Two separate passage references from any book (Old or New Testament.) For this feature to work, no spaces are allowed within each passage reference. Also, books that have the same first three or four characters such as Philemon and Philippians, use five or more characters as an abbreviation of the book (e.g., phile or phili.)

Bible Versions/Translations include: King James Version (a.k.a. Authorized Version), New King James, American Standard Version, New American Standard, New International Version, Revised Standard Version, New Revised Standard, Hebrew Names Version, Young's Literal Translation, J.N. Darby, French, German, Spanish, Hebrew, Greek, Romanian, Authorized Version Old Testament with Strong's Numbers, and Authorized Version New Testament with Strong's Numbers.

Abbreviations are:   kjv  nkj  asv  nas  niv  rsv  nrs  hnv  ylt  dby  elg  lsg  esp  heb  grk  avo  avn   e.g., ~niv Zep 3 17   or   ~dby 2Cor 5:17-19  or  ~asv psa 145 8 9

Any version/translation not available will default to displaying the King James Version. (Please read our Important Message at top of page.)


Study Helpers! Our BibleBot also has Strong's Hebrew and Greek Numbers of the King James Authorized Version: ~avo for Authorized Version Old Testament (Strong's Hebrew numbers embedded) and ~avn for Authorized Version New Testament (Strong's Greek numbers embedded.)
To display Strong's Hebrew and Greek Number Definitions type:
~strongsH [number] or ~strongsG [number]
For example, typing: ~strongsG 26   displays:
26 agape ag-ah'-pay from 25; love, i.e. affection or benevolence; specially (plural) a love-feast:--(feast of) charity(-ably), dear, love. grk 25
(Note: ~strh [number] or ~strg [number] will also give same results.)


BibleBot v1.9b also has the ability to seek words in its concordance:
~s[version] word(s)  or  ~s[version] in [start book]-[end book] word(s). For example, ~skjv Jesus  or  ~sniv in heb-rev Jesus  or  ~skjv in heb1:1-rev22:21 Jesus  or  ~skjv in heb1:1-heb99:99 Jesus  or to seek passages that have Strong's Number 26 "agape" type:  ~savn 26
